(July 2012) Foundation 4Life broke ground on the expansion project at the Dona Justa Guido Memorial School just outside Manila, Philippines. This new addition to the existing school will consist of a two-story structure containing two classrooms to better accommodate the over 900 children who attend this school. One of the classrooms will also be used as an eating area where the students will receive a warm meal each day they come to school.
With construction beginning on the expansion, local 4Life employees and community members gathered together to celebrate the occasion with an official ground breaking ceremony.
“Foundation 4Life is excited to partner once again with Feed the Children to bring our love and support to the children in the Philippines,” said Eileen Tan, Philippines’ International General Manager. “We look forward to creating a long-term relationship with the Dona Justa Guido Memorial School and several of the families whose children attend here to see that students receive better resources so they can make education a priority.”
This sponsorship will be the second addition to Foundation 4Life’s new Community Development Program that was announced at Convention 2012. The new Community Development Program provides resources that promote long-term sustainability for children and families living within sponsored communities, through four main areas of focus: Food and Nutrition, Water and Sanitation, Health and Education, and Livelihood Development.
