Staff and children at the Foundation 4Life-sponsored Marco Aurelio School in Jardines del Norte, Choloma, Honduras started a school garden last year to harvest their own food. After enjoying their first crop of corn, coriander, and green peppers, the kids are currently tending this year’s harvest. Teachers have shared how the children spend a lot of time watering and cleaning the sprouts every day.
In addition to learning skills like planting and harvesting, the kids enjoy the fruits of their labor at the community center where they eat before or after school each day. The program gives teachers a way to help more children at the school learn the practical benefits of growing their own food.
