Connecting Jardines del Norte with the World

(March 2016) In connection with Feed the Children, Foundation 4Life is building a computer lab at the Marco Aurelio Soto School in Jardines del Norte. The new building, Internet connection, furniture, and computers will provide community members technology skills. The project will be finalized at the end of April, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to follow. Foundation 4Life has served Jardines del Norte since 2011 via its Community Development program. This support provides resources that teach community members of all ages to become self-reliant. Past improvements at the school campus include a feeding and community center, new restrooms, new classrooms, a school vegetable garden, and a community sanitation and recycling program. These improvements have benefitted the students and the entire community. “This facility will help educate the children in modern technology and connect the whole community to the world,” commented Feed the Children Regional Director for Latin America Francisco Torres. “Jardines del Norte currently has almost no cell phone service and no Internet connection. This will be an invaluable tool for students to receive additional educational opportunities and for mothers to connect to markets and improve sales for their handmade products.”
