(April 2016) On Saturday, April 16, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador. Hundreds died in the earthquake, thousands were injured, and countless others went missing. The massive destruction affected many 4Life families in the area. In response to the tragedy, Foundation 4Life donated $25,000 to support relief efforts in the hardest hit areas.
Foundation 4Life worked directly with Ecuador General Manager Jorge Chacon and local distributors to assess needs. Shipments of canned food, water, medicine, and hygiene supplies were sent to the cities of Manta, Portoviejo, Chone, Jama, and Bahía de Caraquez. Similar shipments will be prepared for distribution in Pedernales and other affected cities once a clear route can be determined through nearly impassable roads.
“The earthquake was terrifying,” said Gold International Diamond Esthela Carpio Rodas. “Surviving the experience moved us to begin providing immediate support to those who are suffering.”
All Foundation 4Life donations through May 31 will be used to help 4Life family members in Ecuador. Plus, Foundation 4Life will match donations to double the amount of support and provide even greater assistance to 4Life family members who are in desperate need of help.
