In October 2011, several 4Life® employees participated in the 60-mile Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® walk in San Diego, California. Walkers included Foundation 4Life Director Tracie Kay, Marketing Lead Writer Angie Trammell, Events and Recognition Manager (and breast cancer survivor) Camille Bullock, Vice President of Accounting Deann Carter, and Director of Human Resources/Payroll (and breast cancer survivor) Kelli Vallejos, plus ten additional friends and family members. Each participant had a personal connection to breast cancer and raised $2,300 before the event for cancer research. “The 3-Day experience was nothing short of amazing,” commented Angie. “It was packed with emotion, inspiration, fun, lots of blisters, and plenty of laughter. It was humbling to be among so many individuals working together in support of a common cause. This year was especially personal for me with four breast cancer survivors on our team: one who has served as our team captain for three years now, and two of whom I work with every day. “It was humbling to watch them during opening ceremonies and throughout the event—to think about the battle they had fought, what they had endured, and what their families must have experienced, watching someone they love go through the challenges of breast cancer. It was overwhelming to see people supporting us along the way—especially those who were there in memory of women who lost their battles with this disease. Their presence filled all of us with a renewed appreciation for life.”
